Case Study
Pulseboard Trading Analytics
Overview
Pulseboard, a retail brokerage startup, needed a charting experience that could keep up with volatile markets: sub-second updates across thousands of instruments, on hardware ranging from trading desks to mid-range phones.
Challenge
Their legacy dashboard re-rendered entire charts on every tick, freezing the interface during market spikes — exactly when traders needed it most. Data arrived from three vendors in three different formats, and none of it was normalised.
Approach
- A streaming pipeline that normalises vendor feeds into one tick format at the edge.
- Canvas-based chart rendering with incremental updates — no full re-renders, ever.
- A design system for dense financial data: readable at a glance, customisable per trader.
Outcome
Pulseboard launched on schedule and now serves its full customer base through market opens without degradation. Support tickets about frozen charts dropped to zero, and the platform's performance became the centrepiece of their Series A deck.
